Lactuca sativa

55 days. The Mennonites brought this variety with them from Germany and Holland over 200 years ago. Always sweet and tender, rarely bitter, quick maturing. Butterhead lettuces are also known as Boston or bibb lettuce. Can even be grown in a container.

This packet plants three 10 foot rows.

A group of 4 seeds every 5" - 8"

When to sow outside: 2 to 4 weeks before average last frost, and successive sowings thereafter every 3 weeks until 2 weeks before the first fall frost. USDA zone 8 or warmer: also sow in fall for winter harvest.

When to start inside: 6 to 8 weeks before last frost and in summer when soil temperatures are too warm outside to germinate lettuce seed
